Download the Installation Files in a Zip. Students and faculty can get SAS free of charge through a grant from SAS. According to our contract, SAS requires that each individual who installs SAS on his or her machine fill out a consent form and a short questionnaire about usage The grant we have gives them the right to use SAS as long as they are associated with the university (during the grant period, of course). The software can be downloaded and the license code renewed online.
Go to the software download site and log in. Scroll down until you find “SAS” in the Software Title column. In the leftmost column, click “Click here to access software.”
You will be asked to login again. You will get a form to complete. If you already have the software installed and just need to renew the license code, select Renewal as the Installation type. If you want to download the software, select New. After completing the form, click 'Request.' You will be told that the request was created successfully and given a service request ID.

SAS University Edition(Limited version/FREE) - Base SAS, SAS/STAT, SAS/IML, SAS Studio, SAS/Access. This free edition of SAS should enable you to do most everything we do with SAS in PSYC 6430/7431/7433, and it can be downloaded directly from SAS, no hassling with multiple DVDs. I have, however, been told by one student that some standard SAS syntax does not properly execute in the university edition. I’m betting that the installation is a lot easier than with SAS 9.3 or 9.4.

SAS datasets (.sas7bdat files) created with 32-bit SAS can be read directly using 64-bit SAS. However, doing this will create some inefficiency, as SAS will be doing the conversion 'on-the-fly'. For improved efficiency, convert the dataset to 64-bit, using PROC CPORT/CIMPORT. Formats catalogs created under 32-bit SAS and code that imports Excel/Access data requires migration.
